When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary to make pilgrimage from sea to shining sea, we hold these truths to be self-evident:
- that we are pursuing our unalienable right to enjoy the beauties of these great United States of America,
- that, in so pursuing, we are heartily enjoying life, liberty and happiness,
- that we mutually pledge on our sacred Honor to bore you mercilessly with our moments of ecstatic excitement,
- that all bloggers are not created equal, and
- that we, being but fearsome fledglings in the art of bloggery, will do our darndest to pull this thing off.

Hello, North Dakota!
No kidding!!
North Dakota!!
New territory for us!
Our first day of blogging is travel day #4. First three days - Drive! Drive! Drive! BUT what fun to see America the Beautiful: around the alabaster city of Chicago and now among the amber waves of grain of Minnesota and North Dakota - all 700 million acres. Well actually, the waves of grain are still green but lush and gorgeous nevertheless. The Super 8 offered little for photo-ops, but you just wait! Hey, we just crossed "the wide Missouri!" Going into Bismarck - hope it's not sunk!
We are learning a ton, too! Here's today's quiz:
DO YOU KNOW...
- What river divides Minneapolis/St. Paul?
- That canola plants have yellow flowers?
- That Minnesota is the country's largest turkey producer? (I think most of the turkey houses border I-94!!!)
- That Mackinaw City - population 809 - is Michigan's most popular tourist town? (The fact that it lies right on the edge of the narrow Straits of Mackinaw that connect Lakes Michigan and Huron might have a tad to do with its popularity. Ya think???) We wanted to go there for the 4th, but there was no room at the inn - or any of the hotels. Booked for the 4th. Google it - really cool place!
STAY TUNED!
MONTANA, HERE WE COME!
