Little Bighorn Monument, atop a windy hill
Day 5
Got anything for saddle sores?
The last two days have taken us from St. Cloud, Minnesota, through North Dakota,
to Great Falls, Montana - a bit over
1,000 miles.
- Lotta riding!
- Lotta seeing!
- LOTTA beauty!
Today's highlight had to be the
LITTLE BIGHORN NATIONAL MONUMENT.
All of us have heard of the Battle of Little Bighorn, but to SEE the place - the vast rolling plains - the tombstones marking where soldier and Native American alike fell, to FEEL the wind and imagine the terror, and above all, to UNDERSTAND the sadness behind that conflict - a powerful brush with history indeed!
North Dakota and Montana- oh my goodness - painted canyons, flat flat flat you-can-see-forever vistas, rocks, rolling hills, cows and horses, ranches, and OH YES --- FINALLY ---
AMBER WAVES OF GRAIN -
Yes, amber - not green today - fields of wheat,
Thousands upon thousands of acres,
As far as the eye could see.
Think about it when you eat your toast tomorrow.
If you don't believe how straight those Montana roads are, just take a look at our GPS:
Need one of those runs-by-itself cars!!!
Love y'all!!!!!
