Hello to Buff and David Groff, more Wawenock forever friends!
Day 11
(Yesterday again. Just too busy to blog!)
Friends & Farmers
We relaxed! We rested! We refueled our spirits with special friends! That is what days 10 and 11 were all about - laryngitis and exhausted smile muscles!
How lucky can a pair from Maine be to visit TWO families in Portland, Oregon (Beaverton and Portland, to be exact)!!! Wawenock people live at every corner of the globe so we have friends everywhere!!! Today we trekked across the Willamette River (you know, the one that bisects Portland) to have lunch out with BUFF AND DAVID GROFF. As I said - laryngitis!! Their daughters, Julia and Rebekah, attended camp for many years, and Buff and David are post-camp regulars. Arriving for post-camp shortly before Amy's wedding in 2001, the Groff clan jumped right in to help us prepare for our wonderful wedding celebration.
Did I say forever friends?
AND ... Did anybody notice today's color scheme?
BLUE & ORANGE
WAWENOCK COLORS!!!
Now look at what Marilee & Buff are wearing.
I'm tellin' ya!
Love it when a plan comes together!!!
(Even by accident!)
"What's the 'farmers' part?" you ask. Only the coolest farmer's market I have ever seen, that's what, and Joanne and Les took us there. Gorgeous everything everywhere - golf-ball-sized blackberries, 17 (more or less) varieties of cherries, and the CAULIFLOWER - Oh my goodness the cauliflower! Never saw such gussied up flowerettes in my life!!!
Check out the pictures! Yesterday roses - today CAULIFLOWER -- and carrots -- and eggplant -- AND a park with spectacular hanging baskets.
We spent our last evening with Joanne, Les, and Misae enjoying dinner, drinking great Oregon wine, and listening to music - especially Hawaian!
Do we really have to end this dream tomorrow---
